Frequently asked questions.

What happens when we book?

The first step is for us to have a quick chat, either over the phone or a zoom call (if this works for you) and we will take some time to get to know each other a little better, what locations you have in mind and most importantly what it is that you are looking for me to capture. I will then send over all of the relevant information you need including my client guide, dates and and an invoice etc.

What time of day will the photoshoot happen?

For outdoor shoots, I tend to shoot first thing in the morning, its usually quieter in the great outdoors and the light is lovely at this time of day. I just avoid the midday sunshine wherever possible.

For in-home shoots any time of day is suitable.

I am not sure about an in-home shoot? My house is a mess!

That’s real-life isn’t it - but don’t worry too much. In 20 years time when you look back over your photographs what is it that will take you right back to that moment in time? The children’s height on the doorframe, the kitchen table, the bottom step of the stairs. they are all part of your family story and are the things we can (& should) capture.

Where do we have our photoshoot?

I offer shoots which can take place in and around your home, outside in the great outdoors, or both. My first question would always be - where do you spend time as a family? Where is it that you want to remember in years to come? Based on this we can discuss what options would work best, but please don’t worry if you aren’t sure I can also recommend some beautiful local locations.

What should we wear for the photoshoot?

The main thing is that you feel comfortable. I can send you my client guide ahead of the shoot, which provides some helpful information on what works well in photographs and what’s best to avoid. I am also more than happy to provide some advice based on ideas you may have, either from the shops or your own wardrobe.

What if it rains?

I keep availability in my calendar for potential rescheduling due to our lovely unpredictable British weather! If its just a spot of drizzle we will go ahead, however if its heavy rain we will need to rearrange for the sake of your photos and my equipment! The weather is one reason an in-home shoot may be more suitable as we can still go ahead, whatever the weather!
